If you are looking for ways to bond with your children through academics, this blog is for you. Parents, we will teach you ways in which you can use school subjects to create meaningful bonding experiences with your children. What’s even better is that parents also get to learn new things or brush up on their knowledge through these methods. Here we have a list of five sure shot ways in which you can make academics fun for your kids.

1. Learn a new language together

This means you and your child will be on the same level and parents can leverage this opportunity to show children that they are lifelong learners as well. When both parents and children are starting from the beginning with a new language, parents get to see how their children are learning up close. Additionally, you get to pick up another language and increase your knowledge base too!

2. Educational trips

Your child’s curiosity can be nurtured through educational experiences. The more you expose your child to a learning method outside the four walls of their study, the more you build their curiosity. You do not have to plan an elaborate holiday for this. Instead, head down to the local planetarium, take a field trip to a laboratory that makes soaps, hiking trips to a nearby trail, bird watching at a park, the options are endless.

3. Family Trivia Time

Pick a subject and do a weekly trivia night with your children. Involve everybody in the family and increase the thrill and excitement of gamified learning. What this also does is help your child learn concepts beyond what is taught in school while also increasing their research skills. This is a fun way to build multiple skillsets in your children from a young age.

4. Reading Club

Reading is chicken soup from the brain — it is nourishing, fulfilling and keeps you wanting more. Children who read voraciously have been studied to be more empathetic, more adventurous and way more academically inclined than children who don’t read as much. There are always things that you will never be taught in schools or colleges and that is where reading comes in handy. Parents use this opportunity to further explore their own interests!

5. Science and Math experiments

Recreating experiments at home with your child is truly an experience they will thank you for thoroughly. This way you also get to eliminate the unnecessary fear that is associated with these two subjects. Please be careful when choosing your experiments to recreate; read all safety instructions and do not indulge in anything that may cause harm.

It is always easy to make academics the worst nightmare for students and sometimes, it happens subconsciously as well. If your child finds it difficult to learn at school, do not worry about it. There are more ways to learn than one, as long as it isn’t none. Additionally, you do not have to implement all the activities we have described in the blog. Rather use this as a framework to identify what would suit your child the most!
